IT'S A HOOT!
10 January 2011
Carried this cute, little owl home from Goodwill over the weekend. I believe it's a hand-painted figurine from Mexico. It's gotta be Mexican folk art, because it reminds me of beautiful Tonala pottery. I really love the delicate painting on the back, aside from the distressed paint which is probably from getting knocked around at the thrifts. Well, you know what they say, it adds charm and personality. Such a rough life out there for these stray, thrifty owls.

Hahaha... such a rough life indeed: I have plenty of thrifted owls who have had such an existence.
Lovely, indeed! Does he have a name yet? :)
CapreeK - Oh, I think I have one! Walter...Wise Walter! haha. I don't know why but I just love that name.
Poor little fellow has been through the wars a little, but it's given him his charm. And at least he's now gone to a great home!
We actually have a little guy similar to that! Not quite as cool a pattern though.
I think the distressed paint does add personality. I love this!
STEPHEN - These owls are great. Different from the cookie cutter owls you see everywhere these days. Still love them, though. I wanna see what yours look like!
