I CRAVE PARIS PART TWO

01 February 2011

I'm so happy to read all the lovely comments about my Polaroids of Paris. Thank you. I'm really excited about the giveaway and can't wait to pull out the winner this friday! Let me try to wrap up my Paris trip in this post. When I was there, I did all the touristy things, too, not only sit in my lovely hotel room and take photos of flowers on my window and of the neighborhood, which I wouldn't have mind either.

I was actually really active. I did more walking in Paris in one week than I did my entire life in Los Angeles. I loved it! I would start from Arc de Triomphe, stroll down Champs-Élysées, get a crêpe near Place de la Concorde, then continue through the Jardin des Tuileries, arrive at the Louvre and did some more walking in the Museum to see Mona Lisa's smile. It was like a marathon!

I climbed the Eiffel Tower then visited Versailles and took a nap on Marie Antoinette's bed. It was divine but a little too hard for my liking. I had a lot of fun in the castle. I opened doors to secret rooms, daydreaming against walls, imagining myself shuffling around, eating Ladurée macarons and sipping tea. Oh, what a sweet life. I also stopped by the Notre Dame de Paris to marvel at the gothic architecture and whispered a prayer for my amazing friend, WunderGlo.

I didn't buy much, even though there were major sales going on in Paris. Everywhere I looked, I saw the word, SOLDES on windows. I did get a nice, chunky, black, knit sweater from Zara, a KG Design owl tea towel, and a box of delicious Laduree macarons. That's all. I saw a few nice things at the vintage shops in Marais but I didn't feel like lugging it back. And I completely forgot about checking out Colette. I spent most of my time wandering aimlessly on the streets, in the neighborhoods, eating, observing the Parisian attitude and trying to understand their beautiful language. I have to thank my two, favorite Parisian friends (Franck et Karin!) for showing me around. I had a fabulous time and I know I'll be returning soon. Next time, I won't be going alone. I'll drag my heartmate along because it's such a beautiful and romantic city.

  22. Beautiful photos - and I know exactly what you mean. Paris just has that. You know, right? I was only there for a week, with four (at times miserable) children aged 8 and under, but my husband and I loved it, and the kids loved it. Because we went with the kids, there was so much we did not see, but I'm cool with that, because it will still be there, and I am definitely going back.
