THE ONE THAT ALMOST GOT AWAY

22 February 2011

Last week, I got the chance to thrift with a few twitter mates. They weren't actually there, there with me, but they convinced me to buy this cabinet I almost passed up. I know, someone give me a wedgie, please! How could I even think of abandoning those killer, sexy, sashay, shante legs? Well, I wasn't sure I needed more small cabinets and since funds are running low at OldBrandNew, I have to be extra picky. After enough twitter nudging, I walked out with it for $20. And now, it's tentatively rubbing elbows with my TV unit. I love it! Thanks to Capree, Emma, Mina, and Cocopuff1212!

Thank god for tweeps & mobile communication devices!
That sexy little piece of furniture was not meant to be left behind. Love the sliding doors & the long slender legs. yum!

This beaut' of a find makes me wistful.

There used to be a recycling centre around the corner where people could dump still-usable-but-not-for-them-anymore bits and pieces and us magpies could swoop down and balance them on rusty bikes and push them home. Then they extended the recycling centre to include a place to turn in batteries, solvents, used aerosols, etc and the GOD DANG SOLVENT ABUSING JUNKIES swooped in with their yellow eyes and runny noses and spent so much time "recycling" that now they have shut it down.

Nutshell: I will never find such a cabinet here. But...may I be yours' Godmother? I'll send it an Easter card and pinch it's cheeks if I ever see it. I swurr.

I love it. You and Manhattan Nest have the best eye for thrifting. I seriously need to kidnap one or both of you for a day. Super bummed I didn't make it to Justina's party to meet you, but I'll have to make sure to come to the next one!

Thanks everyone for all the lovely comments. I'm so glad I got it, seriously, I'd be kicking myself right now if this wasn't here!

Very cute. You can always make room by selling older pieces you are tired of on craigslist and there by replenishing your funds. That's what I do. It never gets boring in my house :)

Ha, Sashay shante oui ;) Lovely find, glad to hear you scooped it up and at 20$?! Nice! And your photos are beautiful!

erin That philodendron leaf lasts FOREVER. I've had it for about a month and a half now. I snip the ends every other week to keep it fresh and alive. I think I've had it once for about 3 months or longer? It's amazing!

Süsk Are you sure? She's one high maintenance beast. She demands a scrub down everyday followed by an oil rubadubdub. And her toenails need to be trimmed and padded whenever she feels like it. Yes, you can be her Godmama!

Bekka Haha, let's kidnap Dan, he's got way better thrifty hands than I do. Nothing, I mean NOTHING hides from his XRAY vision. Aw, bummed you didn't make it, too. Another time, for sure.

Natalie You're absolutely right. I used to do that with my sofas, swap them out every 6 months and put it back on Craigslist. I kinda forgot about that. Hey, I wonder if we've ever run into each other through Craigslist.

You were so smart to snatch it up, what a nice cabinet! But I can relate to this, sometimes things have to sink in. Those experiences make me buy more stuff than I need (because I'd rather regret buying something than nót buying it ;)).

I'm Jealous!
I love cabinets like this one, Someday, when I'll have to decorate a home of my own I will have even more cabinets ·than you do· ( ha!), and lots of chairs... I have a thing for chairs too ; )

Great find! and for 20 bucks, I wouldn't have thought it twice!

Oh! and I also love all the beautiful cameras you have around there! I'm building up a collection too!
