L.A. BITS + PIECES : SOUTH PASADENA

20 March 2011

Day 4 of my T2 adventure. I covered Fair Oaks Ave. in South Pasadena. Charming town with most of the cuter shops on Mission Street. Look at the lovely Rialto theatre which is now defunct. I wish I could see the insides. I also discovered a new photographer, Shannon Leith when I peeked in Space gallery. Now, I'm kinda obsessed with Shannon's blog after looking her up. She's got gorgeous photos of her home and random bits of daily things and polaroids. Need I say more?! She's my weekend inspiration.

  2. @ Hannah I'm normally super shy when it comes to taking photos of random people but the man was so consumed with his newspaper, lunch break he didn't even see me. It was perfect. Thanks for stopping! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  6. Thank you for posting this! I grew near in Southern California and was always in love with the Rialto. When I left LA in 2005 they were still hosting one of the most loyal Rocky Horror Picture Show evenings anywhere in country... so sad to know this gone now. At any rate, if you want to see the inside in all its glory, check out two movies: The Player and Scream 2. Scream 2, especially since the first 15 minutes take place inside the theater.

  7. I so love your pictures on this post! I grew up in So. Pas and still get there any time I'm in La. I went to the Rialto in high school for Sat. midnight Rocky Horror shows! So much fun but also so sad that it isn't operating anymore.

  12. Found you by way of SF Girl By The Bay and m quite sad to see the Rialto looking so deserted. I moved from LA 12 years ago, so I'm not up on the state of such things, + will say that the last movie I saw there was "The Ice Storm," which was a number of years ago. So sad.
