VINTAGE VIGNETTES : CAPREE'S GUEST ROOM
21 March 2011
When I saw this gorgeous dresser from my sweet gal, Capree of My Adventure Is Your Advantage, I knew it would be a star for one of my vintage vignettes, so I rang her up about borrowing the piece. Seeing that she was in the process of updating her guest room, I wanted to give her a hand at styling it, too (not that she needed it). Can you tell she lives for color? She chose the delicious Orla Kiela signature wallpaper and sent me some of her favorite things like her awesome robots, that dome clock and also art she's been collecting. Because the wallpaper is so lively, I chose a neutral ceramic teak lamp with a black lamp shade. I also picked up a few turquoise pottery to add just a dab of color on the credenza—wood and turquoise always look great together! For the artworks, I used black frames with wider matting on the smaller prints to add some white space on the wall, that way, it doesn't smother the artwork. I think larger frames work better than a cluster of smaller ones because of the small patterns on the wall. Well, I hope she likes it! If you need any help with your vintage vignettes, just hit me up and we can chit chat.

Ahhh!! I LOVE IT! Those vases are amazing and that lamp works so well with the wallpaper. Also, you make a great point about using larger mats to balance the prints against the wallpaper... I wouldn't have thought of that. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm so excited to really start accessorizing and decorating our guest room - and I couldn't have done it without you! You're THE best, Dabito! xoxo
