CAROL SUMMERS WOODCUT
12 April 2011
When I saw this print hanging in a thrift, I zeroed into it with my vintage vulture eyes. The shapes and vivid colors had me blazing with love. I wasn't familiar with the printmaker (shame on me!) Carol Summers, but after some diggin', I'm now smitten with all his beautiful woodcuts. There's really only a handful of links about the artist but he's got a retrospective book. This print is from 1978 titled "Joyous Lake."

I love finding a piece by someone you don't know and researching the history! Isn't it the best? GREAT find.
I love the shapes and colors... so beautiful!
I love lamp.
hahaha! your 'vintage vulture eyes' knows the good stuff~ just that the names makes me giggle!
@ Crystal It's the best! Thrift stores are like museums. I wish they took us on field trips to the Goodwill when we were kids. Now, that would be awesome! We could learn so much.
@ Vintagescapes Yeah, it's so saturated. I can only imagine how amazing the original woodcut must be, printed on Japanese paper. Thanks for stopping by and welcome!
@ CalamityKitty Love lamp! I picked it up from a thrift, it's originally from West Elm. Thanks for stopping by.
@ Suki haha. Glad you got a good giggle out of it. My V.V.A.P.E !
You do have an eye! I love that print and the colors are perfect.
Love it! I'm just WAITING WAITING WAITING for a good piece of art to show up in one of my local thrifts. People really need to donate their rad art more often.
