JULIA
05 April 2011
Finally, something thrifty! Thrifting has been pretty dismal lately. And I've been busy with a new gig. I'm working with a few creative and dynamic people who are super passionate about plants. And that has inspired me to make this little green alter to worship Julia, the goddess of thrifty florals. Found her kicking back in a corner and was immediately captivated by her lovely colors. She was born in Finland by Tampella in 1978. Now, bow down to her and then, rub her clover belly for good luck!

ReplyDeletei love julia! i have a question for you. my husband and i are headed to portland at the end of the month and plan to drive down to san francisco. are there any amazing thrift/resale etc shops we should stop at? also, we are going to the alameda antiques faire. have you been to that one? is it any good?
ReplyDelete@ Lara How fun! I've never been to Portland but I wanna go, desperately. Also, I've never been to the Alameda Antiques faire. I have a friend who just moved here from Portland and I'll shoot you both an email and we can chitchat!
ReplyDeleteJulia is just lovely!
ReplyDeleteHey Laura, I recently went to an AMAZING antique mall in NE Portland. It wasn't all foofoo expensive antiques, but some really affordable awesome thrifty treasures (like old fiestaware pitchers for 8 bucks). The shop was called Moticello Antiques, definitely worth a tour if you're in the area. Also, I hear City Liquidators in Portland is reeeeeally fun.
@ Vicki Nice! Thanks for sharing some of that. Lara, hope that helps a little. Also, what I like to do is, if you have an iPhone, Yelp search the closest thrifts to you. I do that everywhere I go.
ReplyDeleteloving the pics, Dab... gotta get you Pocketed up. next week!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow...this is just so beautiful. I love "Julia" and the whole vignette.

Please come and decorate the house. Please. I can't open another box, not be able to decide on anything, cram it somewhere and then kick the empty cardboard down the stairs and drag it out front after flattening it in a rage. Maddening. And this planty post is GORGEOUS. Next on my list is LOTS OF GREENERY. Er...after I pull myself free of this mountain of cardboard.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, come decorate my shit.
@ Justina Yay! I can't wait to woollify my home!
ReplyDelete@ Melissa Julia is so divine. I love her too! Thank you for stopping by and see you around!
@ Süsk AS IF you need any help. God, your new home is out of this world amazing. I can't wait to see you put it all together. You're almost there! But seriously, I SO wish I was there! I'm ready, fly me over!
